The Safdie brothers’ new film Julia Fox Uncut Gems stars Adam Sandler as a blinged-out jeweler who makes some very poor choices. Julia Fox plays his girlfriend, who may or may not be in on the scam.
We caught up with Fox to talk about working with the Safdies, shooting in New York, and what it’s like to have Adam Sandler as your on-screen boyfriend.
How Did You Get Involved with the Project?
I was in L.A. and I got a call from my agent saying the Safdie brothers want to meet with you, and I was like, “Yes! Of course!” I had seen Heaven Knows What and loved it, and I was a big fan of Robert Pattinson in Good Time. So I met with them, and we just clicked. They told me the basic outline of the story and I was in.
Absolutely. I’m from New York, so it was nice to be able to shoot at home. And the Safdies are New Yorkers, so they have a real love and appreciation for the city. They really capture it in their films.
It was great. They’re very collaborative directors, so they really involve you in the process. And they’re open to trying new things. We would do a take one way and then they would say, “Let’s try it this way.” So it was a very creative environment.
Yeah, I was definitely drawn to the character. She’s a bit of a mystery, and you’re never quite sure what she’s up to. I liked that about her.
The Julia Fox Uncut Gems movie is about a jeweler in New York City. The movie is set in the diamond district of New York City. The main character is Howard Ratner, played by Adam Sandler. Howard is a jeweler who is always looking for the next big score. He gets himself into trouble when he tries to sell a stolen diamond. The movie is full of suspense and is a must watch.
In the movie “Uncut Gems”, Julia Fox plays the role of a woman who works in the jewelry store. This is a small but pivotal role in the movie, and Fox does a great job in the part.
Diamond District of New York City
The movie is set in the Diamond District of New York City, and follows the story of Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a jewelry store owner and dealer who is trying to make a big score. Ratner is a bit of a gambler and is always looking for the next big score. His latest scheme is to buy a rare black opal from Ethiopia, which he plans to sell for a huge profit.
Fox’s character works in Ratner’s store, and is one of the few people who knows about the opal. She tries to talk him out of the deal, telling him that it’s too risky. But Ratner is determined to go through with it, and eventually sells the opal to a wealthy client (played by Kevin Garnett).
Full of Twists & Turns
The movie is full of twists and turns, and Fox’s character plays a small but important role in the story. She is a voice of reason for Ratner, and ultimately helps him make the right decision.
Fox does a great job in the role, and her performance is one of the many highlights of the movie. “Uncut Gems” is a must-see film, and Julia Fox Uncut Gems is one of the reasons why.

The Safdie brothers are known for making hyper-stylized, fast-paced films that often deal with characters on the fringes of society. Their latest film, Uncut Gems, is no different. The movie follows Howard Ratner (played by Adam Sandler), a jeweler and gambler who is deeply in debt and constantly on the lookout for the next big score.
Alive & Dangerous
The movie is set in the Diamond District of New York City, and the Safdie brothers did an amazing job of making the setting feel alive and dangerous. The camera is always in motion, and the editing is breakneck. This all adds to the sense of unease that Howard is constantly feeling.
The performances in the film are all great, but Adam Sandler deserves special mention. This is easily the best performance of his career, and he completely disappears into the role. He’s playing a character who is completely unlikeable, but Sandler brings enough charm and charisma to the role that you can’t help but root for him.
The Safdie brothers have made another great film with Julia Fox Uncut Gems. If you’re looking for a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat thriller, this is the movie for you.
In the Safdie brothers’ new movie “Uncut Gems,” Julia Fox Uncut Gems gives a breakout performance as Howard Ratner’s girlfriend, Julia. The character is a tough one to like at first — she’s selfish, manipulative and often mean to Howard — but as the movie goes on, we see her start to soften, and we come to understand her a little better. And by the end, we’re rooting for her, even though we know she’s far from perfect.
Fox’s performance has been praised by critics, and it’s easy to see why. She’s fearless in the role, fearlessly going to some dark places and making us believe in Julia, even when she’s at her worst. It’s a complex, layered performance, and Fox is definitely one to watch in the future.
