We caught up with Fox to talk about working with the Safdies, shooting in New York, and what it’s like to have Adam Sandler as your on-screen boyfriend.
How Did You Get Involved with the Project?
I was in L.A. and I got a call from my agent saying the Safdie brothers want to meet with you, and I was like, “Yes! Of course!” I had seen Heaven Knows What and loved it, and I was a big fan of Robert Pattinson in Good Time. So I met with them, and we just clicked. They told me the basic outline of the story and I was in.
Absolutely. I’m from New York, so it was nice to be able to shoot at home. And the Safdies are New Yorkers, so they have a real love and appreciation for the city. They really capture it in their films.
It was great. They’re very collaborative directors, so they really involve you in the process. And they’re open to trying new things. We would do a take one way and then they would say, “Let’s try it this way.” So it was a very creative environment.
Yeah, I was definitely drawn to the character. She’s a bit of a mystery, and you’re never quite sure what she’s up to. I liked that about her.
Howard Ratner
The Julia Fox Uncut Gems movie is about a jeweler in New York City. The movie is set in the diamond district of New York City. The main character is Howard Ratner, played by Adam Sandler. Howard is a jeweler who is always looking for the next big score. He gets himself into trouble when he tries to sell a stolen diamond. The movie is full of suspense and is a must watch.
In the movie “Uncut Gems”, Julia Fox plays the role of a woman who works in the jewelry store. This is a small but pivotal role in the movie, and Fox does a great job in the part.
Diamond District of New York City
The movie is set in the Diamond District of New York City, and follows the story of Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a jewelry store owner and dealer who is trying to make a big score. Ratner is a bit of a gambler and is always looking for the next big score. His latest scheme is to buy a rare black opal from Ethiopia, which he plans to sell for a huge profit.
